A free boundary problem in the theory of electrically actuated microdevices
نویسنده
چکیده
Electrostatically deflected elastic systems are increasingly used in technical applications. We study a typical situation as a free boundary problem and prove, under quite general hypotheses, the existence of a local branch of solutions. Hadamard’s variational formula is crucial in the proof, which is based on the implicit function theorem in Banach spaces. c © 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

A Numerical Improvement in Analyzing the Dynamic Characteristics of an Electrostatically Actuated Micro-beam in Fluid Loading with Free Boundary Approach
Electrostatically actuated microbeams have been studied by many researchers in the last few years. The aim of this study is to present an improved numerical analysis of the dynamic instability of a cantilever microbeam immersed in an incompressible viscous fluid. The finite element method is used for solving the vibrational equation of the microbeam and the potential functions of the fluids in ...
متن کاملRobust Fractional Order Control of Under-actuated Electromechanical System
This paper presents a robust fractional order controller for flexible-joint electrically driven robots under imperfect transformation of control space. The proposed approach is free from manipulator dynamics, thus free from problems associated with torque control strategy in the design and implementation. As a result, the proposed controller is simple, fast response and superior to the torque c...

متن کاملRobust Fractional-order Control of Flexible-Joint Electrically Driven Robots
This paper presents a novel robust fractional PIλ controller design for flexible joint electrically driven robots. Because of using voltage control strategy, the proposed approach is free of problems arising from torque control strategy in the design and implementation. In fact, the motor's current includes the effects of nonlinearities and coupling in the robot manipulator. Therefore, cancella...
متن کاملSize Effect Impact on the Mechanical Behavior of an Electrically Actuated Polysilicon Nanobeam based NEMS Resonator
In this paper, the dynamic response of resonating nano-beams is investigated using a strain gradient elasticity theory. A nonlinear model is obtained based on the Galerkin decomposition method to find the dynamic response of the investigated beam around its statically deflected position. The mid-plane stretching, axial residual stress and nonlinear interaction due to the electrostatic force on ...
